A Proud Tradition from Nepal
For over a thousand years, lokta paper has been a staple of artisans from Nepal. Thank you for supporting this ancient tradition!
Made from lokta bushes grown naturally in the Himalayan Mountains of Nepal, lokta paper is one of the world’s most unique papers.
Strips of the inner lokta bark are cooked in vats, creating a pulpy mash which is then spread across boxed screens and set to dry in the Himalayan sunshine. The paper forms with a special texture making each sheet unique.
Lokta bushes quickly regrow after being cut, providing a renewable source for the paper.
Can I Print on Lokta Paper?
Yes. We have lokta paper specially made to work with most laser and inkjet printers. Lokta card stock can also be printed on by printers that can accommodate card stocks.
Is Lokta Paper Really Handmade?
Yes, lokta fibers are separated and spread by hand across boxed screens and set to dry in the Himalayan sunshine, making each sheet unique.
Is Lokta Paper Tree Free?
Yes. Lokta paper comes from bushes that grow in the high Himalayas of Nepal. Lokta bushes are a renewable source for the paper as the bushes quickly regrow when properly cut.
